 Hi, and thanks for visiting the site – if you have landed here, chances are you are thinking about joining or are a new member of the club. In any case, you probably like sailing, and that’s a good start!
If you are an existing member, let’s hope you enjoy the next few paragraphs:
SOYC is a club, run by its members, for its members and our most important objective is to provide safe, enjoyable and affordable sailing to our members.
Like many other clubs we rely on the goodwill of the members to assist in every aspect of running the club, whether that’s in the role of Finance Director or as a skipper or crew member making sure the boat is cleaned properly after use.
Good seamanship, pride of ownership and everyone playing their part is what we aim for.
These values, and the feeling that I could give something back to the club, encouraged me to join the committee, undertaking various roles over the last three years, and it is an honour for me to now be the Club’s Commodore.
Enjoying nature with a few like minded people has to be one of the best things you can do with your spare time. The club has given me the opportunity of sailing regularly for a relatively small amount of money, and I have made some fantastic friends.
It has had a significant impact on my life and I hope it will on yours too!
So, have a good time, stay safe, think safe, treat the boats as if they are your own, and the rewards we will all reap through sailing will be enormous.
