The Club exists for all members to gain enjoyment and experience in yachting, whatever their previous experience. The Club has two comfortable, easy to sail Bavaria yachts, a 36' and a 37'. The yachts are maintained to the highest standards with a three-year rolling replacement programme, and are moored at Mercury Yacht Harbour near Southampton, about an hour's drive from Heathrow.

There are regular day sails, training courses and cruises where you can book your place through our web booking system. Most members enjoy the chance to sail with new and old friends, and by learning from the friendly skippers, whose role is to develop the skills and enjoyment of their crew.

One of the Club's aims is to be recognised for a level of excellence in yachting, for which we provide a range of training courses. So whether you want to become a Yachtmaster Offshore, or just enjoy the experience of sailing the Solent and South Coast of England, SOYC is the club for you.
 

Who can join?

Membership is open to all serving and retired British Airways employees (including subsidiaries) and their families. In addition a restricted number of associate memberships are available.

The club welcomes members of all levels of ability and experience – from complete beginners to those experienced in sailing cruising yachts and dinghies.

What experience do I need?

Absolutely none! The Club welcomes potential members who have never been sailing before. We were all there once, and the thing about sailing is that it's such fun we want to share the secret! Everybody is welcome! All you need is a sense of adventure and the willingness to give it a try. Whatever sailing you have already done and whatever you want to do SOYC is the place to do it. Why not come along and see how much you enjoy sailing ?

Joining

Just complete the forms or contact the Membership Secretary to find out if you could qualify as an Associate Member. If you want to 'give it a try' and come sailing with the Club for a day contact the Bookings Secretary to set a date.
